A new name for an old favorite

SANTA FE, NM – What’s in a name? A troupe by any other name would sound as sweet!

Well, maybe not quite so. See which you prefer: After 77 years, the Concert Association (yawn), has now segued into Performance Santa Fe. Zippy!

Trendy!

And a zippy, trendy crowd of around 125 supporters filled the Eldorado lobby Tuesday evening for the grand “Name Change Announcement Party” and impromptu musical performances.

For the past six years Joe Illick, also of the Fort Worth Opera, and his sparkly wife Gina Browning, have brought flair and joie de vivre to this august company, so a perkier name became appropriate.

Also the group does more than just concerts – it brings a variety of musical genres to the Lensic stage.

Some of those this season: the American Ballet, the Berlin Philharmonic and Stars of the Santa Fe Opera (Yes! Susan Graham!) singing their favorites with Joe at the piano.

That sounds pretty fabulosa!
