SANTA FE, NM – Dinner benefits The Horse Shelter
Have you ever wondered what becomes of a horse whose owner dies or abandons it?
If his name is Lucky, he will be taken in by The Horse Shelter, THE place for homeless horses. Outside of Santa Fe in the hills of Cerrillos, and brainchild of the late Jan Bandler, its tradition is being carried on nobly by her daughter Jennifer Rios, the rest of Restaurant Martin.
Someone got Chef Martin to donate a magnificent four-course dinner of culinary masterpieces which raised $50,000 towards the $130,000 a year needed just for feed for the adopted animals. Check out thehorseshelter.org.
It’s a fact: cancer touches us all, whether personally or someone we know.
This year over 700 people came out for the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico’s ninth annual Valentine’s Eve Sweetheart Auction at the Convention Center.
Beautiful party! Booths with really marvelous jewelry, interesting loot in the silent auction and in the live bidding, exotic, hedonistic treats like an African safari or dinner at Lou Diamond Phillips’ house, prepared by him, for you.
Their famous raffle, the trip of your choice.
The evening raised several hundred thousand dollars to help people with grocery cards, hotel rooms, and caregivers while they are trying to beat cancer. See cffnm.org.
Valentine’s Day at Site Santa Fe
While visitors floated through the galleries of SITE Santa Fe taking in the brand new avant-garde FEAST exhibition, the Foundation Council held a FEAST themed tea to attract more members to their group, which raises $150,000 a year to help fund exhibits like this.
Doris Francis and Pat Hall chaired the tres elegant hearty English tea for 30 people. We wonder if napkins were saved. (See the show!)
